Among the European artists who will participate in Super Walls 2021, the Street Art Biennial of Abano Terme and Padua which kicks off on Saturday 5 June there is also our David Karsenty , a French artist known for his colorful and ironic reinterpretation of some pop icons.
Born in 1972, originally from Le Havre, Normandy, Karsenty devoted himself entirely to art after studying psychology; fascinated by street art and graffiti , starting from the path already traced by Pop Art , he works around the icon concept .
The works of David Karsenty they are a collection of personages which they are imprinted in our collective imagination : from comic book characters to supermodels, the colorful world of this artist touches the memory strings of each of us, snatching more than a smile. Impossible not to recognize one of his midgets (first of all Grumpy “Grumpy” who raises his middle finger with his sulky face), the snow-white with the protective mask from Writer (a work born as a protest against the pollution of the Alpine peaks by uncivilized tourists and skiers) or Super Mario that sends Covid-19 to that country .
Karsenty had already exhibited in Padua in 2019 (at the Samona Gallery and at ArtePadova), also realizing two works on the walls of the City (in via Curzola, Arcella district). Our gallery had also hosted one of his solo shows last year. We are now waiting to find out what he intends to do on the walls of the Muratori school in Arcella.
