Who is the Artist?

The name “Shife” was born in 1997 as a distortion of the English wordsheaf– sheaf of straw – for his distinctive hairstyle. The name was later changed to Shife, both due to a distortion in pronunciation and to the artist's preference, who did not like the succession of the letters "E" and "A". During his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice he adopted the acronym VHRo to sign his paintings. Later hestreet artistand thepainterthey “unite” in Shife VHRo.

Shife VHRowas born in Padua in 1981. Since 1997 he has been actively interested in public art phenomena such as graffiti and street art. Having graduated first as an Air Transport and Navigation Expert at the Aeronautical Technical Institute of Padua, he then enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he was a student of Maurizio Martelli. However, his assistant Luca Bendini was fundamental to his training. In 2005 he obtained theMaster of Arts Diploma in Painting.

His technique, which we can undoubtedly define as "mist techniquea”, passes through the use of acids and solvents, such as nitro, applied via stencils to expanded polystyrene, thus obtaining the base that is then colored with acrylics and enamels. Subsequently, with the use of a handcrafted silkscreen matrix or a stencil, the image is reproduced, always with the use ofacrylics and enamels.

What makes his style peculiar are the works that use the mediumspray canssame oiroad signs.
